Located in Garfield County, Enid is the ninth-largest city in Oklahoma. The community was founded during the great Land Run of 1893 named after “Enid,” a memorable character in Alfred, Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King. Situated in the northwestern part of Oklahoma, Enid resides on the eastern edge of the Great Plains. Enid is 35 miles west of I-35 on State Highway 412 and intersected by Highways 412 and 81. The city is approximately 85 miles north of Oklahoma City.
